Legacy Charity is a family charitable organization motivated by strong compassion and solidarity to add value to the lives of the less privileged/orphaned children and poor widows in West Africa.

The vision was birthed by Joshua Okonkwo, a Nigerian Swiss-based Singer known by his stage name Joe Legacy or Joe Gabriel C.

“Raised by a poor widow with four other siblings in the rural eastern part of Nigeria, I practically experienced unpleasant effects of poverty as a young boy, which almost ruined my hope and self-confidence, and could have chartered my life’s dreams and potentials. I thank God that today I am in the position to assist some who are in the same situation in my own little way “Joe Legacy”

Our vision and mission:

1. Children:

To invest in the future of these children and help them discover and develop their purpose, skills and potentials through the following ways…

Quality education:

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” #Nelson Mandela.
But unfortunately, this “Powerful weapon to change the world” is accessible only by the rich man’s Kids in some parts of the world.

We’re therefore committed to give scholarships to as many children as possible, having personal contacts with them to train and educate them with solid moral and social values, which will help them discover who they are and their contributions to the society.

Music:

“Music is a therapy to the soul “Joe Legacy”
Music is to an average African child (in the rural areas) what television or iPad is to the average western kid.
Through music a conducive atmosphere is created to enable the children to interact with each other, build self-confidence and learn to express creativity.
We provide a standard band room where kids can come and learn how to play instruments (on real instruments), sing and dance for free.

As a therapy to the soul, we also create a music platform where the widows come together to learn how to dance and sing in a choir. By so doing they interact with each other, free their minds from worries and have fun.

Widows:

In Nigerian culture, widows are often helpless, oppressed and neglected.
We’re committed to acknowledge them, bring a smile on their faces and restore their lost hope in the following ways…

Supporting them financially to start up a small trade that can put daily food on their tables. Eg. (A sewing machine can settle a widow and kids, a simple old kitchen set is all someone needs to start a small restaurant business, few hair dryer machines and a small amount of money can start a saloon business) etc.

Royal feast;

This is a platform where we feed and clothe both poor widows and kids at least once in a year during Christmas season and provide gift items like… Food, clothes, school materials, toys etc.

At the feast both the children and widows present their songs, dances and instruments both in group/choir and individuals.

Our future goals:

To build a modern school facility and offer free education from Kindergarten all the way to secondary level (12th grade) engaging active and qualified teachers.- To provide medical infrastructure and clean water.

Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord and He will reward them for what they have done. Proverbs 19:17

One can chase a thousand and two ten thousand. Together we can positively influence our world.
